The game that brought many members of this guild together has released a sequel this week. It looks to be a fantastic quality game and has quality multiplayer potential. Now, that said, we can get to work porting our Specters' Sound custom map over to Starcraft II! Game on!

Retro Gaming Returning

The buzz has been around for sometime as we all have become disappointed in the gaming market lately in its ability to produce the next game we can get a big arm of members around. So, the discussions should opened up on the forum for putting togehter some game nighs for some of your old classics that we all enjoyed so much. Yes, I still have all versions of the Specters Sound map available for download if you need to reinstall your Broodwars! Speak your mind and support your classic favorites as we start discussing the nights and schedules....oh, and the games themselves. Remember, we have Teamspeak available 24/7 to support our efforts!

Fall of 2009

Here it is, the end of 2009 already and we have now our 12th anniversary as a gaming clan of adults coming up next spring. Hard to believe. It didn't seem like too long ago we had so many games going and loads of people touching all of them. WoW, has risen up and died down as bas as the American economy. Many other attempts to find the one game we can rally around have all been flashes in the pan.

As we start in 2010 to find that magical software that bring the majority of us back onto a single game, here are some of the things that have gone on to help put is in this odd predicament as seek fellowship in our favorite divrsions from reality....

10 Man Raids a reality in WOW

Recently we added some new members that helped our numbers of level 80 alts in World of Warcraft reach a body count of over 10, which we needed to be able to run the 10 player raids in game. This very recent accomplishment will now allow us to run Specters only raids which will benefit the guild and not some other guild milking us for their own needs, as some of us have experienced.

At the same time we have opened up public and active recruiting for WorldofWarcarft - something we have not done for some time. Some members of old have even returned for another stint with Specters having previously departed for raid guilds. If we roll the numbers we see that we have plenty of Paladins and Hunters, even Death Knights. We're still looking for a few good priests, warlocks and warriors to fill out the 80's group for raid parties. We al should be good ambassadors and try to find more quality people. Right now we have one of the best foundations of levels and quality people that we have had yet to date as a whole. Picking up a few more quality people and we'll be well on our way to the success we desire.

Decisive issues of the past, mainly high end content runs and PVP, are no longer issues within the guild. We are focused to achieve both while still being able and reachable to do lower level work for members trying to level.

It is truly one of the best times to be a Specters Alliance member of The Scyrers server in WorldOfWarcraft.

Wrath of the Lich King - and not enough time

Specters Alliance Guild members in World of Warcraft are finding out both the good and bad of the new expansion Wrath of the Lich King. They're also finding out that there is a challenge to both experience the new class - Death Knight (who all start Forsaken then have story lines that put them Hordie and Alliance)- and leveling your dedicated 70 main alt. Not enough time in the day to accurately do both, so you compromise. With yourself that is. Bottom line: you won't keep up both and will have to let your own needs determine which way to do. We still want into Burning Crusade runs and still have the occasion now to go back to original conent as well.
So far, this expansion has been a very good one. I expect to do my full report to GCC/GOG next week or so.

Winter 2009 - New update

Been awhile would be a major understatement, but yes it has been. Many games have come and gone this past year and now as we approach the holiday season there are plenty of reasons to receive and give games. The economy sucks, but then that's good news for those of us that like gaming since once you lay out the finds for machine, game and net service - you're good to go.

Besides still hanging on to some games, we're now starting to see the cracks show and servers dropping for some of our favorite games, bummer as it is. Now in our 10th year it would seem that Specters Alliance has truly become about the people and not so much the games, since there is such a wide variety of games out there.

We are still looking for more people to join us - always. One can never have too many gaming friends.

Expect to start seeing some change in the information system around here.

Max

Winter And Changes In The Wind..

As the Winter season comes upon us, so do the choices we make in gaming come to perusing the usual plethora of new choices. Specters members are currently sampling several new offerings with mixed reviews and dedications. Having returned from my masochistic revisit of SWG, I have renewed my focus on WOW where we are trying to get all of the 60's to 70. I also have delved into the Orange Box and Hellgate: London. Everyone should focus upon playing what they like and our support will follow the masses. We are in the sampling mode right now and yes, we are stlll recruiting in WOW. Keep the forums active with information so that we can study the games releasing and pick our poisons. GCC has a new look and it worth a visit as well.

Max Goes Deep Into SWG

There has been a lot of talk about how Star Wars Galaxies, the most hated MMO out there after SOE beat all of it's players to death with crack induced changes, had been reversing course on coming back to what it was before. With my GrumpyOldGamer cape draped over my shoulder I buckled down into a 3 month commitment to the game. While my full up post quarter article will appear in a small series on at http://www.gameclubcentral.com upon my completion of the task, you will find a running blog of my adventures backwards in time on our forum in the Executive Office.
