Wrath of the Lich King - and not enough time

Specters Alliance Guild members in World of Warcraft are finding out both the good and bad of the new expansion Wrath of the Lich King. They're also finding out that there is a challenge to both experience the new class - Death Knight (who all start Forsaken then have story lines that put them Hordie and Alliance)- and leveling your dedicated 70 main alt. Not enough time in the day to accurately do both, so you compromise. With yourself that is. Bottom line: you won't keep up both and will have to let your own needs determine which way to do. We still want into Burning Crusade runs and still have the occasion now to go back to original conent as well.
So far, this expansion has been a very good one. I expect to do my full report to GCC/GOG next week or so.

Winter 2009 - New update

Been awhile would be a major understatement, but yes it has been. Many games have come and gone this past year and now as we approach the holiday season there are plenty of reasons to receive and give games. The economy sucks, but then that's good news for those of us that like gaming since once you lay out the finds for machine, game and net service - you're good to go.

Besides still hanging on to some games, we're now starting to see the cracks show and servers dropping for some of our favorite games, bummer as it is. Now in our 10th year it would seem that Specters Alliance has truly become about the people and not so much the games, since there is such a wide variety of games out there.

We are still looking for more people to join us - always. One can never have too many gaming friends.

Expect to start seeing some change in the information system around here.

Max

Winter And Changes In The Wind..

As the Winter season comes upon us, so do the choices we make in gaming come to perusing the usual plethora of new choices. Specters members are currently sampling several new offerings with mixed reviews and dedications. Having returned from my masochistic revisit of SWG, I have renewed my focus on WOW where we are trying to get all of the 60's to 70. I also have delved into the Orange Box and Hellgate: London. Everyone should focus upon playing what they like and our support will follow the masses. We are in the sampling mode right now and yes, we are stlll recruiting in WOW. Keep the forums active with information so that we can study the games releasing and pick our poisons. GCC has a new look and it worth a visit as well.

Max Goes Deep Into SWG

There has been a lot of talk about how Star Wars Galaxies, the most hated MMO out there after SOE beat all of it's players to death with crack induced changes, had been reversing course on coming back to what it was before. With my GrumpyOldGamer cape draped over my shoulder I buckled down into a 3 month commitment to the game. While my full up post quarter article will appear in a small series on at http://www.gameclubcentral.com upon my completion of the task, you will find a running blog of my adventures backwards in time on our forum in the Executive Office.
New Members and Focus

We started some recruiting again across the genres with some minor success in WOW and little effort in the other games. The status is still wide open and members are encouraged to find more people in the games that they do play.

That being said, there has been a renewed effort to get gaming back onto scheduled weekly nights so as to bring more members together to play said games. That effort has been met with a tad bit of apathy making a good plan and attempted implementation beome more of a frusration for those trying to help out.

Summer is upon us and many things go on with the kids and work, etc. There are also a handful of new games coming out that we might look at. We're still looking for more players and we need to all do the best we can to attend those activities when we can.
WOW Servers Check

After the transfer from the crowded Silver Hand and Silvermoon servers, who now probably feel the relief since groups like ours took up offer to help alleviate the problem, there still exists the question of Thorium Brotherhood. Both The Scryers and Arathor are seeing quite a bit of Specters participation, perhaps the most Horde action since the days when we started the game, as a Horde clan on a pvp server. With both LMG and SA having but a few people trying to patchwork it together I am entertaining the motion to shut it down, at least Specters participation. That all depends upon the survey now active.

9 Year Anniversary - May 2007!

(May 1998)
As I became frustrated by running a guild I hadn't intended upon, a guild filled with kids and punks and few mature members to begin with, I longed for something better. That's when the inspiration for what became Specters Alliance hit me. I took a few key members of "Sons of Liberty" with me, names like Defiant One, Gaywand Trackand and some we try to forget, and formed a new maturity based adult gaming clan.
(March 2007)
9 years later, who'd have thought it was such a realizeable dream! I look at our friends in LikeMindedGamers and see they've reached 4 years and how excited they are to be there. We know that feeling all to well, and we know that they are ecstactic for reaching that pinnacle, one that gaming groups like ours should never take or granted.

We'll have to work out some tournaments or such, and take some group screenshots in all of the different games we play. Watch the forums for some special annivesary events to happen in later May.
Recruiting Open - All Games!

Yes, it has been awhile since we've opened our doors to new people, but that has now changed that we've re-solidified our website after the rebuild.
Effective immediately: Specters Alliance is recruiting in all games!
So what does that mean? Well, if you like playing the games we do we'll either find you or you'll be directed here by one of our members. Here's what we're looking for:

Mature gamers - no matter the game maturity in attitude and selfless play is rule one

Be communicative - use the programs and servers provided to communicate often

Be proactive - try to get into games as often as possible with members, let us learn you

Be constructive - provide help and guidance not critical berating or disrespectful slander

Simple rules, but sometimes hard to follow if it is isn't your character, and those are the characters we're looking for!
Suspect Forum Accounts

There have been a handful of accounts that are clearly related to spam in our forums. Let me explain briefly Specters Alliance policy on such accounts.
First, we reserve the right to delete any suspicious account and do not hesitate to do so. If you create an account on our website you are agreeing to our policing the forums for violaters.
Secondly, we IP track every account and every posting on our forums and I have had success in tracing IP addresses and submitting complaints to those service providers. In the past I have successfully had a couple of accounts shut down when I have provided the potential damaging posts/spams.
Your spam is not welcome here and will be swiftly terminated.
