Basic Clan Information
What is Specters Alliance?

History of the games:
In May 1998 Specters Alliance was formed as a Starcraft clan, that evolved into a Broodwar clan. The attraction to this clan back then was mature and adult gamers, anything less wasn't tolerated. Right.
Things happened and people appeared realistically to be self-centered and the clan changed directions.
As Broodwar wore thin on us we decided to entertain a couple of games instead of being singularly focused upon but one game. Staying within the confines of the Battlenet, we supported both Diablo and Warcaft.

Eventually, there became interest in gaming outside of Blizzard and we took up our first FPS in Tribes. That eventually led us to pickup Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena. The FPS section lives to this very day as a strong force of what we are as we enjoy all of the Battlefield! series from 1942 to 2142 and all variations thereof.

We eventually branched out into the MMO world as well trying Asheron's Call and StarWars Galaxies. Some members became lost to the collective when they delved into Everquest. SWG self destructed and we picked up City of Heroes, then both Everquest 2 and the world standard: World Of Warcraft.

RTS games migrated away from the beginning standard Broodwar as we tried all versions of both Age of Empires, Warcraft, Diablo II, Civiliazation, Dawn of War 40k, etc...

The Membership:
Having survived many episodes of turmoil over the years we remain focused to our prime mission:
To have a clan of mature and supportive gamers.

We strive to have the relationships and friendships developed here surpass that of any single game. MMO introduction has become the most difficult arena to making this work. By design - the content of those games doesn't always make for a meniable relationships like we strive to maintain. We readjust and refocus back to the prime objective whenever there are fissures in our otherwise solid organization.

Beyond the selection of games at the moment, any moment, we put our friendships here before self.

The Organization:
Specters isn't really tied up with overt organization, instead we use a dynamic type of structure that changes with the demands of the games we play. Officer positions come and go depending on the need of the membership and the games. Structure, rank, pomp and circmstances do not have much need for attention around here, we're just gaming friends. This isn't real life and no one here pretends that it is.

Personalities:
Having been around for almost a decade we have quite a collection of adult players and some mature teens(mature beyond their years). Teachers, engineers, lawyers, college students, software technicians, you name it, we pretty much have it. High tech jobs almost seem to promote the need for gaming, which is our diversion from the world we have to be concerned with. Specters Alliance provides us a break to game with our friends, most of which could use the break, too.

Mutual respect and honorable play are mandated. Our members have long lived by this code.

Enlistment and becoming a member:
In most every case we recruit within the games we play, seldom outside of them. People interested can approach any member about joining or post on our forum. We take everyone at face value, and observe their interactions with our people for an undisclosed period. If they don't fit, we let them know as we show them the door. If they do fit in and find with us the experience we all love to share in gaming, then they too, become one of us.

Self-assessment screening:
Before you consider our group you should look at yourself and answer these few questions:

What is it you are looking for in a gaming group? Are you looking for people that enjoy the game and people they play with, or are you focused upon personal achievement?

Are you a willing support person who would gladly support a fellow member who needs help?

Are you a flexible person who can maintain their system to acceptable gaming standards, and keep your options open for changes in gaming types and genres?

Are you a communicative person who will utilize the forums and TeamSpeak2 server we provide to stay in tune with events and to learn your fellow members?

Closing comments:
We're always receptive to finding new members that appreciate what we have to offer. Certainly our longevity speaks for itself and that we have a good group of people that have come to know each other in a gaming environment, many now having been friends for years. That's what we are all about.
